1. John Soper immigrated to Newfoundland in the early 1800 . He was a shipwright and set up a business in Mosquito (now called Bristols Hope) It is unclear if he brought his wife to Newfoundland from England or if he married her once he got here.
There is a record of marriage for a John Soper Jan 9 1810 (Methodis) but no documentation to prove that this is is our John Soper. I have yet to discover what his wifes name was. His second wife was Grace Harvey (she was a widow from Mosquito) they were married Jan 9 l860. I have not found a record of John Soper death.
John Soper and his first wife ? had these children who apparently were all very blond (white haired) with blue eyes. Sounds like the blond hair and blue eyes of the Pynn family may have actually come from the Sopers.
